- EAP Listening: Recognizing lecture structure
This section of the UEfAP web site (University of Hertfordshire) lists functions that lecturers may use to signal the structure of their lectures, e.g., contrasting, moving on, etc. There are also short lecture extracts that include examples of common lecture phrases and expressions in context.
- EAP Vocabulary: word families
The Academic Word List (Coxhead, 2000) lists the most frequent academic English words, and this website shows them grouped in word families. The most frequent word in each family is shown in italics. There are 570 headwords and about 3,000 words altogether.
