On this website you can find two sample exercises taken from Warwick University’s interactive CD Listening to Lectures. You can practise the skills you need by listening to two video extracts from authentic lectures and doing the tasks that go with them.
- BBC Learning English: Talk about English: Who on earth are we?
This is a collection of 12 programmes for English learners that look at and explain the theory behind cultural differences. The programmes look at areas such as culture shock, cultural misunderstandings and the differences between individualist and collectivist cultures.

BBC China: Ask about Britain
This five minute bilingual English radio programme is designed for Mandarin Chinese learners of English, but will also be useful for other nationalities. Each week it answers learners' questions about life in the UK. Episodes cover topics such as good manners, university, racial diversity and RP English. Also available as a podcast.
